Privacy notice

Last updated 23 October 2026. This notice was written for FanaticVote and has not been reviewed by a lawyer.

Who we are

FanaticVote (www.fanaticvote.com) is operated by GetNextOrder in the United Kingdom, the “controller” of your personal data. Contact: support@getnextorder.com.

What we collect and why

  • Account data: your email address, a password (stored only as a one-way hash by our sign-in provider), or your Google account email and name if you sign in with Google. We use it to create your account and keep it secure.
  • Display name: generated from your email when you sign up; you can change it in Settings. It isn’t shown to other fans.
  • Votes: which option you picked in which poll, and when. We use this to give each person one vote per poll, to show results and to detect abuse. Individual votes are never shown to other fans.
  • Reports, suggestions and messages: what you write when you report a poll, suggest a poll or use the contact form (including your name and email for messages), so we can respond.
  • Technical data: IP address, browser and device details are processed by our hosting and security providers to deliver the site, stop bots and limit abuse. Short-lived counters keyed to your account or IP address (for example, votes per minute) are deleted within a day.
  • Donations: we don’t collect payment details. Donations are sent by you directly to a crypto address; blockchain transactions are public.

Our lawful bases under UK GDPR are: performing our service for you (account, votes), our legitimate interests in security, fair voting and fixing problems, and, where needed, your consent.

Who we share it with

We don’t sell your data. We use these service providers to run FanaticVote, each handling data only for us:

  • Supabase: database, sign-in and file storage.
  • Vercel: website hosting.
  • Cloudflare: Turnstile, the “verify you are human” check on sign-up and sign-in.
  • Google: only if you choose Continue with Google.
  • GitHub: holds encrypted database backups that we can’t read without a private key.

Some providers may process data outside the UK. Where they do, we rely on safeguards such as standard contractual clauses or the UK data bridge.

How long we keep it

  • Account and vote data: until you delete your account. Deleting it removes your email and profile; your vote stays in the totals but is no longer linked to you.
  • Reports and messages: once handled or closed, deleted after 2 years.
  • Backups: encrypted copies are kept for 14 days and then overwritten.

Your rights

You can ask us to give you a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to how we use it, or move it. You can delete your account yourself in Settings. To use any other right, email support@getnextorder.com. We reply within one month. If you’re unhappy, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.

Cookies

We use only the cookies we need to run the site. See the cookie notice.

Children

FanaticVote is for people aged 13 and over. If you think a younger child has an account, tell us and we’ll delete it.

Changes

If we change this notice in a way that matters, we’ll update the date above and, for big changes, show a notice on the site.
